New Stadium Developments
The Marlins announced in 2008 that they will be building a new stadium on the old Orange Bowl site, vacated by the University of Miami Hurricanes football program, and it will be completed in time for the 2011 season. This section of the website is going to feature updates on the new stadium as they become available. Construction will officially begin on the new park in November of 2008.
Originally, in regards to the Orange Bowl being targeted as a site possibility, the Marlins were going to construct a stadium that would have been attached to the Orange Bowl itself. This would have cut down on costs for constructing a new stadium, but also would have married the Marlins and the Hurricanes into a sports complex with the possibility of adding a MLS soccer franchise in the future.
The Orange Bowl site, where the new stadium is to be built, has already been leveled and prepared for construction.
As for ideas, the Marlins are open to suggestions. They are taking ideas from fans and they are even touring various ballparks to get a feel for what ideas work best. Recently, on a road trip in New York, the Marlins toured the Mets new Citi Field to take a peak as that is being built.

The Florida Marlins are releasing photographs of the mock-up designs – you can see their photo gallery here. They also have a webcam of the construction site which you can monitor as well.
