According to Ken Rosenthal, this deal was most likely was ordered by Loria and implemented by Beinfest. Al Leiter asked a question about who executed this deal, Mike Hill or Larry Beinfest and described the front office situation in Miami as “convoluted”.
It remains to be seen whether or not this is a reset button move, or a rebuild. Marlins fans in Miami are ready to riot and it seems that there is too much damage for any positive future outcomes. No star is going to sign a long term deal because they will feel they will most likely be dealt.
Jacob Marisnick also included in this deal. A very heavy OF prospect within the Blue Jays system, some have him ranked pretty high. Only 21 years old, has excellent offensive and defensive potential. Would be there with Yelich and Stanton in the OF, but not sure how Stanton is going to be handled here since he is clearly angry at this move.

Loria’s defiant reaction but maintains they are doing the right thing:
According to the CBS sports article on what the Marlins got, Henderson Alvarez is a guy that has to learn to pitch to contact. He has a sinkerball, but doesn’t miss bats much with a 4.3 K per 9IP. He better be a bulldog.
Don’t expect Bud Selig to save the day either:
