I still think Hermida is an all-star caliber OF in this league. He should be better defensively, admittedly that is a short coming of his game. Still, he is better than Manny is defensively and just like you pointed out, there is no reason to make this move as we actually have a lot of depth offensively. Manny would have been a good PR move, but I would rather we spend time winning ball games on the field. I agree that this team is good enough to make noise in the playoffs. I haven't seen the pitching of late - still in Italy! But I suspect that this team is going to be a 2nd half team anyway.

if we give up pitching it looks like it will be ryan tucker and thats it. mike stanton has been mentioned as well... hes an 18 year old outfielder at single a greensboro and hes absolutely raking the ball there. hes way too young to get upset if we move him, but he could turn out to be one hell of a power hitter 3-5 years from now

Well, this would be a huge trade for the Marlins though. We would gain his bat, but downgrade with his defense. Still, Manny plays the game in a fun way, I don't know if that is something we really need or not. He was pretty good buddies with Hanley though...so, who knows. I think we have the pieces to pull of this trade, I just don't want to give up any of our pitching. Maybe Mike Jacobs gets moved here.

Didn't know Miller was out. This sucks, haven't we suffered enough with injuries? Still, any win against the Braves is a great win as I think it is safe to say that we have all grown very tired of the leprechauns outliving their luck. Still one game out though.

Thanks for the updates, Nolesmarlins. You know I am here in Italy but got to stay updated on our Marlins! Glad to see we stuck it to the Phillies as I was starting to worry about our standing in the standings!

Forza!!!

Great piece! I have been reading this blog for sometime and I really like that you guys are getting more talented writers here. I didn't know Uggla was a big time Yankee fan - he is my favorite player! Great to see him make it back to the All Star game!

I was actually ragging a guy from Houston on Xbox live about Hanley having the lead at SS. Iceman, if you're out there reading - you know what's up!

Well...I can live with us at #9. I think we will have to improve our pitching in order to take and KEEP first place, even from the Phillies.

I like where you got the Braves ranked.

Excellent read, SIMF. I haven't been able to fully detail our draft, but this guy sounds promising. One problem - Maybin. Galloway is going to have to play a corner spot, like you said, or Maybin could move, depending on who is better defensively. Even more impressive that the Marlins signed him considering that they have Maybin already.

Thanks. MiLB.com is slow to update sometimes and thebaseballcube is roughly 2 or 3 weeks behind.

Speaking of Raynor, he is back down in Greensboro(swapped for Bryan Peterson, who had a very nice debut at Carolina). I am not really sure why, to be honest.

As for Coghlan, he has played some 3B this year if I am not mistaken, but his power potential isn't really strong enough so I would say the move to 2B is for the most part permanent.
