  • Got the Red Sox in front of us getting to .500. Well, they are throwing out legend Wakefield while we have Volstad – who has struggled lately #
  • @camdoug1 The real question is, how did Rossi not stay and play here in the States? We should egg his house! in reply to camdoug1 #
  • Double for Cantu. Which makes him the Checker's Double of the Game by default. #
  • Did Wakefield grow a gut this offseason? #
  • DUggla hits into a Double Play. That won't be the Checkers Double of the Game. #
  • Volstad narrowly escapes a Big Papi highlight reel. Gets Lowell to K – miss the local guy who made good. #
  • Defense kills us here. Uggla tries to barehand a ball and the Red Sox score from 2nd. We can't seem to throw out any base stealers, either. #
  • @camdoug1 Agreed. That is pretty douche. in reply to camdoug1 #
  • Bonifacio steals 2nd. Good to see him on base again. #
  • @camdoug1 I'm sure they are Italian immigrants – so it is a dream come true for him. Like you said though, it sucks. in reply to camdoug1 #
  • Marlins get a run on a steal from Bonifacio and a single from Coghlan that scores Boni. 1-1. Expect a lot of SB attempts on Wakefield. #
  • @JCRMarlinsbeat LOL! I guess Andy Fox isn't Mark Wiley. in reply to JCRMarlinsbeat #
  • Volstad's Dad being interviewed – mentioned that Babe Ruth pitched on that same mound in 1916. Great baseball fan, too! Way to go! #
  • Coghlan shows off a great arm from LF, but it is wide and the Sawks score. 2-1. Red Sox. Marlins coming up to bat. #
  • @camdoug1 His ERA is in the 6's over his last two starts I believe though. in reply to camdoug1 #
  • Well, that sucked. 4th inning chased Volstad away and reminds us all of the June 27th 2003 nightmare. 25-8 Red Sox slaughtered the Marlins. #
  • That was NOT a strike. That wouldn't have been a strike in softball. #
  • You're losing a game 8-2 and the ump is blowing some calls. Tough game to watch, tough game to play in, too. #
  • Coghlan continues to impress as he just continues to hit the ball. He drives in Bonifacio with a double in the corner. #
  • The catcher clearly pushed that ball into fair territory and the ump blew that call. Fredi should have made that clear. Three blown calls. #
  • Cody Ross' strike 3 call was bogus; Bonifacio should have been given a home run or at least a review; and Gload didn't hit that ball fair. #
  • @JCRMarlinsbeat Tough to tell from the replay, but it looked like the play should have been reviewed at least. in reply to JCRMarlinsbeat #
  • Another a reason to hate the Red Sox – Ben Affleck. #
  • I guess I shouldn't hate Ben Affleck, he's a fine American actor and a national treasure. Sarcasm off [on] #
  • @camdoug1 Two words: Red Sox. in reply to camdoug1 #
  • THutt speculates, or suggests, that Gaby Sanchez is continuing to hit AND play 3B. What are we waiting for? #
  • @MagicGia Boo! You're from Miami you should be a Marlins fan! #
  • But you love the Heat? That's good. By the way, did you want to write for http://www.miamiheatwave.com ? #
  • @camdoug1 Sounds good. But, get in line with that list. in reply to camdoug1 #
  • Is it me, or is there something really wrong with the "Daughter" in this Just for Men commercial? #
  • @MagicGia You're Aquarius, too? Of course you are! in reply to MagicGia #
  • 1 home run in the last 33 starts for Cantu? Really? #
  • How long did this game go? Only 2.5 hours? Seemed quick. All the scoring came early. 8-2, Red Sox. Marlins now 32-34. #
  • Volstad has given up 14 runs in his last two starts. His first struggle of his career. #

  • JJ comes back and gets an easy 5th. Good bounce back for the kid. #
  • @Joeyricard I just preordered mine, too! Muhahhahahaa!!! in reply to Joeyricard #
  • Bayhurst plunks Hanley . That's two Marlin hitters hit today by Bayhurst. He's done. #
  • So runners on 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. Would like to see an add on run here. #
  • Jessie Carlson in to relieve for BJays – going up against Hermida. Last time, Hermida was hit by Bayhurst. #
  • Hanley does the obligatory steal – but the Jays were holding him at 1B which means he actually gets a stolen base. #
  • And Hermida strands 2 by popping up the Rolen – in foul territory. #
  • JJ gets another 1,2,3 inning to keep the Marlins out front 8-3. Good discussion about whether or not JJ should plunk hitters – no, shouldnt. #
  • Tough day for Helms, but he has been putting the bat on the ball. Finally legged out a single here. #
  • Brett Carroll up with 1 out and bases loaded. #
  • Rolen makes another nice defensive play and steals a hit from Carroll and turns it into a play at the plate. 2 outs. #
  • Coghlan draws a bases loaded walk. I really like this kid's poise at the plate. He's calm and confident. But, Bonihead is up. #
  • JJ working on a complete game here – got to get through the 8th. Has had a couple of close calls. #
  • Double play saves the day – JJ gets a DP to end the inning. 4-6-3 Double Play! #
  • Rich throws out the Helms Plan for 3B if Bonifacio continues to struggle. Well, I say pull the plug on Bonifacio right now. #
  • Paulino hits another home run! A laser right over the wall in LF! 10-3, Marlins. Captain, CAAAVVVEEEMAAAAANNN! #
  • Carroll drops a base hit right into shallow center. 2 hits today, good to see him make the most of his opportunity. I really like his grit. #
  • Coghlan hits a bullet through the infield – makes a vapor trail off the mound into centerfield. #
  • Bonifacio hits a chopper but it doesn't get him on base. Better swings for him from the right side. #
  • 25 hits, on July 1st 2003, is the Marlins team record for hits in a game. #
  • Wow, I don't know how Carroll didn't steal home on that passed ball. But the ball skips into the dugout which advances the runner anyway. #
  • JJ gets MillAHHHH to K. 2 outs here – one out away from a CG. #
  • Sweep for Marlins. CG for Johnson. Ross squeezes the fly out to end the series. Get some rest tomorrow, we're off to Boston. #

  • 64 stolen bases allowed is killing us this season. We lead the league in that category. #
  • With 2 outs, the floodgates have opened. 2-1 Blue Jays – Aaron Hill continues his season long hot streak. #
  • @Joeyricard Einstein bagels? in reply to Joeyricard #
  • Finally, Nolasco locks down that 3rd out. 5th inning over. Fans in Toronto riot. #
  • THutt is blasting the home plate umpire because he is missing strike after strike. Ricky can't catch a break. #
  • @JCRMarlinsbeat Would be higher if ump had his glasses on. Or wasn't being paid in Canadian rubles or whatever they use up there, eh? in reply to JCRMarlinsbeat #
  • Coghlan has 4 hits on the night. At least someone showed up hitting tonight. I like him and Gload at the top of the lineup. #
  • Cito is pulling Richmond? Wow. He was owning the Marlins – and there is 2 outs. #
  • Hanley dumps one into shallow RF to score Coghlan. Gload moves to 2B after getting a single to keep the inning alive. #
  • Hermida hits one off of Wells glove (tough catch) and gets a double. 9 extra base hits in his last 16 ABs. On Fire! #
  • Baker looks like he went a round with Mayweather. A ball off the knee – that's fun. #
  • Bases loaded. Fingers crossed. 0 outs. 2-2 tie…got to like the Fishes' chances. #
  • HOLY CRAP! You hope for it, but he actually got it! Deepest part of the park for Cody Ross!! Granny!!! And there is that sh*t eating grin! #
  • Cody's 3rd grand slam on the season ties a Marlins record. Conine did it back in '04. #
