And just like that, the Marlins are making moves again.
Signing Stanton was a great start that promises that the franchise will have a stable core for many years to come. If the Marlins have their way, expect Christian Yelich, Adeiny Hechavarria, and eventually Jose Fernandez to be locked in (that, may have to wait several years since his agent is Scott Bora$$).
Reports are that the Marlins have offered free agent 1B Adam LaRoche a two year, $20M deal. Joe Frisaro has confirmed this over at the Marlins’ web site. The question is, will the 35 year old Beaker look alike take the deal (and will he keep the beard?). If he does sign, the Marlins get a pretty solid lefty bat to hit behind Stanton, granting more protection and a veteran presence in the lineup.
There is even talk about possibly bringing James Shields down to the MIA. So, stay tuned everyone.
