Jose Fernandez Is Turning Heads in Spring Training

fernandez-jose13-0212I already predicted that this guy would play for the Marlins this year and will have a Dontrelle Willis-like effect for this team in 2013. Not that he is the same pitcher, but he has the type of stuff and electricity to really make an impact despite his young age.

Don’t believe it? Well, three different articles have appeared in the south Florida media that discuss this young prospects potential.

Miami Herald: “I’m Ready to Pitch”

Sun-Sentinel: Young Fernandez confident, impressive

Palm Beach Post: Pitching Prospect Jose Fernandez creating buzz as Miami Marlins open camp

Jose Fernandez is garnering a lot of attention from MLB insiders and scouts. He is touted as the #7 prospect in all of baseball at this point, and his value is rising fast. Considering the direction of this team heading into 2013, and the history of this franchise with pitching prospects, it is a likely scenario that we see Fernandez pitching in Miami at some point this season. The question is, will he break Spring Training with the big club or not?

Of course, Fernandez should at least learn the name of his new manager. Apparently he didn’t realize who Mike Redmond was in an interview – see the footage here.

"Jonnylons" has been a life-long Marlins fan - which isn't hard since they've only been around in since '93 and he's been around a bit longer. He founded MarlinsNation.com in order to provide a voice to Marlins fans on the internet which he started when he was up in Tallahassee at Florida State and was stranded with no Marlins games on TV up in that market.
