You know your beloved sports show will only talk about how close this game was in the end. The Marlins, however, were able to jump out to an early lead on an explosive offense and take the first game of this series.
This might be the major difference between this year’s team and last – these guys can hit and put the ball in play. Omar Infante, the man brought in to replace Dan Uggla, made some contributions. He went 1-4 but had a sac RBI which was crucial to getting the first inning to boom for the Fish.
In Infante, we can sense the direction of this team. Put the ball in play, catch the ball on defense. Do it low key.
An early win in this series puts the Marlins in a great position to keep winning and to keep chasing those Phillies. Looking at some polls around other baseball sites, it seems the Marlins are winning in the perception department as well.
