Both Matt Lindstrom and Anibal Sanchez are scheduled to throw bullpen sessions on Friday, but there are different levels of expectations for both pitchers at this point.
For Lindstrom, it is just a matter of getting comfortable with his delivery again as he continues his way back from the DL; Lindstrom was placed on the DL on June 24th with a right elbow strain. He has thrown already on Monday, spotting his 98MPH trademark fastball.
As for Sanchez, the climb back is a little tougher. He landed on the DL on May 8th with a sprained right shoulder despite starting the season as the team’s 4th starter. For Sanchez, his career has been frustrated by arm and shoulder injuries – in fact, this is the very same shoulder that required surgery in 2007. It is questionable whether or not he can shake the injury bug but he continues to push forward. Friday’s bullpen session will reveal a bit more about Sanchez’s status. Stay tuned.
