The Aftermath

July 31, 2008 in Rumors by nolesmarlins

So after a very tense 24 hours, Manny will be going to the Dodgers instead of the Marlins.  It was really close, almost complete except apparently Pittsburgh balked at the end and tried to get more prospects out of the Marlins.  Fortunately, our front office stood firm, the Marlins didn’t wind up getting ripped off, and LA stepped in for [...]

Manny to DODGERS

July 31, 2008 in Uncategorized by nolesmarlins

Now Jon Heyman at SI.com says Manny was traded to LA.  Nobody else has reported this yet.  Matt Kemp?

Or not…

July 31, 2008 in Uncategorized by nolesmarlins

Now Fox says after a late push nothing happened.  Its 4:23, if something did happen then we will find out in the next few minutes.  Nevertheless, a full report will be coming within a couple of hours explaining why, or why not.

It’s ALIVE…

July 31, 2008 in Uncategorized by nolesmarlins

FOX now has changed their headline from “Dead” to “It’s Alive”.  Rosenthal only mentions that the trade may be “back on”.  Peter Gammons just said on ESPNnews (TV) that they may be bringing Tampa into the discussion. I am totally going nuts right now… 2 minutes to deadline.

Manny Trade May Be “Dead”

July 31, 2008 in Uncategorized by nolesmarlins

According to Fox and ESPN, the deal for Manny Ramirez may be dead due to Pittsburgh wanting more for Jason Bay.  However, like Ken Rosenthal said, these deals have a tendancy to revive themselves in a hurry.  Maybe the Marlins and the Red Sox will drop Pittsburgh from the discussion?  I don’t think that this deal is totally “dead”, but [...]

UPDATE: MANNY APPROVES DEAL TO FLORIDA

First reported by Jon Heyman with SI.com.  THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE DEAL IS DONE.  But we’re damn close…

BREAKING NEWS: FISH TRADE FOR M’S RELIEVER ARTHUR RHODES

July 31, 2008 in Uncategorized by nolesmarlins

Welcome to Miami Gardens, Arthur.  Today, the Marlins have traded pitching prospect Gaby Hernandez to Seattle for 17 year veteran Arthur Rhodes.  Rhodes is a 39 year old lefty reliever who has been enjoying a great season up in the Pacific Northwest: 2.86 era, 1.36 WHIP in 36 appearances.  Keep in mind that those 36 appearances are unnaturally low, Seattle [...]

Manny to South Beach Part II

July 30, 2008 in Uncategorized by nolesmarlins

So this Manny thing might have some wheels… now ESPN.com’s Buster Olney and FoxSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal are reporting that the Marlins are in “serious discussions” with Boston over Manny for two or three players in return, either Hermida or Willingham “plus pitchers”.  Hmmm… Seems like Senor Berardino over at Sun-Sentinel.com largely agrees with my opinion of the situation, and expounds on [...]

Manny Ramirez a Marlin?

July 30, 2008 in Uncategorized by nolesmarlins

According to SI.com, our very own low-budget Marlins may have actually contacted the Sox about disgruntled superstar Manny Ramirez.  Now pick your jaw up off the floor and keep reading… Apparently the deal would be Hermida plus wayward prospect and Josh Hamilton protege Jeff Allison for Manny (sorry about the Josh Hamilton/drug use reference, that was kinda low… but still funny).  Obviously, since Mr. [...]

July Pitcher of the Month

July 27, 2008 in Fish Farm, Future Fish Report, Starting Pitching by SouthernIllinoisMarlinsFan

As everyone knows, I am a big Kyle Kaminska fan. The kid is all of 19 years old and was a 27th round pick, yet still started 2008…his second professional year…at high A Jupiter in the Florida State League. And granted, while it wasn’t pretty he showed alot of promise in his first start. And the struggles continued after a [...]
