THE RETURN OF THE HAMMER

Josh Willingham trots the bases after a home run

Josh Willingham has officially returned from the DL. The Hammer pounded down upon the Gnats twice tonight, including a walk-off solo shot in the bottom of the 10th. That is the second walk off win for the Fish in as many days, and now the Marlins find themselves a half game back of idle Philadelphia for first place in the NL East. Hammer’s smashing return couldn’t have been timed any better for the Marlins, as Dan Uggla appears to be on the shelf for a few days with a bum ankle.

Hanley Ramirez has provided us with another stellar example as to why he is the best table setter in the game today. Both yesterday afternoon and this evening, Hanley tied the game with a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth. It would be an absolute farce if this man is not starting at short and leading off for the National League at the Midsummer Classic. [Vote for Hanley now!]

Consider the June swoon over, boys and girls. It is certainly a great time to be wearing teal. Philly, you have been put on notice.
